Some Names Deserve To Be Preserved Forever…Others, Not So Much
One of the most meaningful and intimate things you can do to show your love for another person is to tattoo their name on your body (or the coordinates of where you met them if you are Angelina Jolie). This is a gift of the heart and demonstrates that this person will be a presence in your life forever.
Unfortunately…even some of the strongest relationships don’t last. Think long and hard about whether to add a person’s name to your body, because as much as you love and treasure them now, things might change. Epic friendships flounder like the Titanic. The most promising marriages drift and then break.
If this happens, then you’ll be left with a lot of heartache, sour memories…and a tattoo that causes you pain instead of joy. You really don’t want to have to go through the discomfort and cost of removing the tattoo of your ex-husband’s or ex-wife’s name from your skin.
Of course, certain names, like your parents, grandparents, siblings, or someone close to you who passed away, are all good bets. For a boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, you may want to get tattoos as a tenth anniversary present rather than after the first few months of a whirlwind romance!
